Since the moment we first began broadcasting at 12:00am on May Day 2018, Loudspeaker’s mission has been to create a space for the stories and the art of those from marginalized communities. In that time, we’ve launched 20 original audio series, told hundreds of stories, created music videos, produced drag shows, organized a concert fundraiser to support Colorado artists during the pandemic, started four streaming radio channels, and played countless hours of music from local, national, and international independent artists. We’ve managed to do this with a diverse all-volunteer team of people from Sacramento to New York City. And today, we’re thrilled to announce the next step in our evolution.
As of March 15, 2022, Loudspeaker is now a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, recognized by the State of Colorado and the Internal Revenue Service as a tax-exempt public charity that provides cultural services to our community. For those of you who have supported Loudspeaker financially in the past, first and foremost we are thankful for you, and we’re pleased to report that your donations are now tax-deductible and can go further than ever as we look to build upon our mission.
What’s in store for the future?
We are hard at work planning out the next 3-5 years of our journey and the first phase of that plan will be revealed very soon. Without saying too much, it’s something we’ve wanted to do since day one and it will truly allow us to plug in to our local and regional community.
In addition, we want to pay the passionate and talented people that bring you fantastic stories day in and day out. Their work is invaluable and they deserve to be compensated for their time and effort.
Beyond that, our vision includes building upon our radio streaming service to become a premiere source of music discovery for all those who love music, not only in our immediate vicinity, but around the country and around the world. Wouldn’t it be great if that didn’t have a price tag?
Storytelling in all its forms is what unites us and our stories are more important than ever. Won’t you join us on our journey?
